Choose a reading task
Okular documents support for PDFs, ebooks, comics, images and other formats. Its annotation tools include highlights and notes, and its navigation panels help move through a document. This may fit a reading and review task without making it a replacement for the application that authored the original document.
Start with a copy you can compare
Our suggested trial is a short document with text, an image and several pages. Find a phrase, move through the pages and add one note to a working copy. Then inspect the saved result in the application a recipient will use. Being able to see a mark in the editor does not establish how every other reader will display it.
Check the platform channel
KDE recommends the Microsoft Store package for Windows and lists Linux distribution and Flatpak routes. Its download page separately marks nightly Windows and macOS packages as untested. This coverage concentrates on the documented Windows and Linux distribution paths; it does not present a nightly macOS package as an equally checked stable installation.
A readable copy still needs review
Before sharing an annotated document, check that the intended pages and marks are present and that private notes are not included unintentionally. Keep the original document distinct from the review copy. We have not tested every annotation format or signature workflow, and the viewer’s documentation remains the place to check a specific supported feature.
