Choose the mode around what you want to learn, and check the version requirements before arranging a network session.

01

Three different purposes

The official project distinguishes its single-player campaign, skirmishes with computer opponents and LAN or internet multiplayer. A campaign can provide a sequence of objectives; a skirmish offers another way to practise systems; a network session introduces other players and connection conditions. Choose the purpose before comparing the modes by name alone.

02

Start with the linked tutorial

The official site points new players to an in-game tutorial and Quickstart guide. Our suggested first goal is to understand a small construction or unit task and recognize its outcome. That is more measurable than trying to master a full technology tree at once. We do not supply a tested opening build order.

03

Check the package if cinematics are missing

The FAQ explains that campaign-video data must be present and describes distribution-specific installation choices. Missing movies are therefore a different troubleshooting question from failing to launch the game. Follow the official instructions for the package you chose, rather than adding an unrelated media download or assuming a newer engine port is involved.

04

Check compatibility before meeting online

The FAQ identifies matching game versions as important for joining a session. Confirm that and any session-specific requirements with your intended group. A successful local tutorial does not establish internet connectivity. This article distinguishes documented modes and suggests a learning sequence, without inspecting your network or changing permissions on your computer.
