The editable project, camera field and exported movie need separate checks when you finish a short animation.
A project is not a finished movie
Pencil2D’s FAQ distinguishes older PCL projects with companion data folders from PCLX containers that package project data. Neither should be described as the finished movie merely because it contains the animation work. Keep the editable material for changes and create a separate export for a viewer.
Check what the camera includes
The manual explains that the camera field defines the exported view within a larger drawing canvas. Our suggested check is to look at the first and last key positions and verify that the important subject remains inside the intended frame. Something visible on the broader canvas may not belong in the delivered shot.
Save before building a long sequence
The FAQ recommends saving early and using separate scene files and numbered milestones for larger work. Our suggestion is to give the first saved project a clear name and preserve a separate milestone before major revisions. Do not assume autosave is a complete archive or that a new filename automatically includes every external dependency in older project formats.
Watch outside the editor
Export a short test and play it separately. Check duration, framing and any sound synchronization before starting a longer export. If export fails, follow the project’s current troubleshooting guidance rather than downloading unrelated codecs from an unknown site. This guide does not promise recovery of a damaged project or report a device-level export test.
