Read the country, store and device scope together. A headline about Android can make a staged rollout sound broader than the current announcement.
What the current schedule says
Google’s help page sets 30 September 2026 as the start of the first phase in Brazil, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand. It describes verification of installations from selected partner stores on certified Android devices, with wider global expansion planned for 2027. This is the published rollout scope as checked on 30 September; we have not independently observed enforcement on devices in these countries.
What verification does and does not establish
Google distinguishes identifying a developer from reviewing the content of an app. A verified identity is therefore not a review score, a promise of suitability or a guarantee that every permission request is justified. Continue checking the genuine developer destination and whether the app’s purpose makes sense for you.
If an installation changes
Our suggested response is to note the exact on-screen message, the store used and the device region, then consult the official help or developer. Do not infer that every installation problem is caused by this rollout. The source describes exceptions and further plans that can change, so follow its current wording rather than an old checklist. We have not tested enforcement on a device in any of the listed countries.
