A reasonable browser to evaluate alongside your current one, particularly on a KDE desktop. Keep essential workflows working while you compare.
- Built-in ad blocking
- Official Linux package routes
- Do not assume another browser’s extensions will transfer
- Package versions can vary by distribution
What makes this a separate choice
Falkon is a KDE browser with features including ad blocking, password management and desktop integration. The current official download page directs Linux users to distribution packages, Snap or Flatpak. This article therefore covers Linux rather than suggesting an unverified Windows download. An attractive feature list is a starting point; compatibility with the sites you actually depend on is the more useful comparison.
Compare a small set of real tasks
Our suggested trial is three ordinary pages: a news article, a document you read regularly and a service you use for work. Check text size, downloads, printing and sign-in behavior. Start without importing sensitive saved data. Keep your existing browser available while evaluating Falkon, especially if an essential service depends on a particular extension or browser-supported feature.
Choose an update route you understand
Use one of the installation routes linked by the project and keep track of which you chose. That choice determines where you look for updates. Avoid treating a search-result download button as equivalent to a KDE-linked package. We have not benchmarked Falkon’s memory use or audited its privacy behavior. The case for trying it here is its documented desktop feature set and clear official distribution routes.
