A minute spent on the official listing can prevent a frustrating installation. Use this checklist on Android, iPhone and PC.

01

Start with the genuine publisher

Use the developer’s verified website to find its store listing. Check the developer name and exact product edition. A familiar icon alone does not establish authenticity. Our official-link buttons identify where you are going; App Fieldnotes does not host installers.

02

Check your device and the real cost

Read the operating-system and hardware requirements. Look for a purchase price, subscription, advertising or in-app purchases. A product offered on several platforms may require separate purchases. For PC games, inspect the store’s requirements for your operating system rather than relying on the PC label alone.

03

Review permissions and updates

Consider whether requested access makes sense for the feature you intend to use. Use the official update route for the version you installed. Google documents app updates through Play Store’s Manage apps & device menu; Apple describes manual and automatic updates for App Store apps.

04

Make a small first trial

Begin with a non-sensitive file or a short session. Check that the controls, accessibility and performance meet your needs before committing a large library or payment. This is a practical decision checklist, not a claim that an app has passed security testing.
