Change the browser used for ordinary web links, then check the result with a simple link.
Make the choice in system settings
Google’s documented route is Settings, then Apps, then Default apps or Choose default apps under General. Open Browser app and select the browser you want. Menu wording can differ across devices. If the browser is not listed, first check that it is installed and opens normally rather than trying to select it through an unrelated search-engine setting.
Check one ordinary link
Our suggested check is to open a plain web link from a note or message and confirm the browser shown. A link that belongs to another installed app is a poor first test because it may open that app instead. Keep the old browser installed until your everyday links work as expected. If you are helping someone else, make the change with them present so they recognize the new interface.
Move your data separately
Choosing a default is not a migration plan for bookmarks, passwords or open tabs. Review the new browser’s own import or synchronization options before expecting those items to appear. Start with a small, non-sensitive bookmark if you want to test an import. You can return to the same system setting to change the browser again; avoid making several related changes at once if you want to understand the result.
Go straight to the people who make it.
