Use the October 2026 event to answer a few buying questions instead of building an unmanageable demo queue.
Put the event in the calendar
Valve’s schedule lists the October 2026 Steam Next Fest for 19–26 October. The event is built around demos, developer broadcasts and discovering upcoming games. A festival appearance is not a full-game release date. Check each game’s own page for supported operating systems and requirements before downloading, especially if you use macOS, Linux or a handheld.
Choose questions before choosing downloads
Our suggested plan is three demos with a different question for each: do the controls suit me, can I read the interface comfortably, or does the basic loop hold my interest? Give each a short note containing the game title, date and device used. A small, intentional list is easier to learn from than installing everything that looks promising on a crowded event page.
Keep demo conclusions provisional
After a session, distinguish what you directly experienced from what a trailer or roadmap promises. A demo’s length, performance and available settings may not represent the final game. Check the developer’s own notes about save transfer instead of assuming your demo progress will carry over. Wishlist a title if you want to follow it, but revisit the finished release and its current terms before spending. The event alone does not establish quality or compatibility.
Go straight to the people who make it.
